SpinOff Idaho

The Idaho Food Bank is working towards a “Million Meals in March” to aid the 1 in 7 Idahoans who face hunger. To support them, UpCycle is hosting Spin Off Idaho, where teams compete to raise funds.

How it works:
1. Build a team of 8-14 and challenge a competitor.
2. Pedal for 45 minutes.
3. Winner = Team who cycles the most miles
4. Loser = Must donate a dollar/mile accrued by the winner--in the winner’s name!

Thus far, the match-ups are:
9am: Trader Joe's vs. Boise Co-op
12pm: Real estate Giants v. Real estate moguls
2pm: Cradlepoint vs. Clearwater Analytics

Does your team have what it takes?
To register, call Josh at UpCycle at 208.297.5591.

Karma Ride for Idaho Foodbank

We love our community, so every Friday, as part of Ride UP Build Boise, our Karma Ride gives back 50% of to a local non-profit. March is the Idaho Food Bank!

1 in 7 Idahoans face hunger daily. In response, The Idaho Foodbank, an independent, donor-supported, nonprofit organization founded in 1984, is trying to rasie money to provide a MILLION meals in the month of March. Idaho Food Bank is the largest distributor of free food assistance in Idaho. From warehouses in Boise, Lewiston and Pocatello, the Foodbank has distributed more than 135 million pounds of food to Idaho families through a network of more than 230 community-based partners. These include rescue missions, church pantries, emergency shelters and community kitchens. The Foodbank also operates direct-service programs that promote healthy families and communities through good nutrition.

An Idaho Food Bank representative will be available to answer questions, provide information about volunteer opportunities, and take additional donations.

Let's do this, UPCyclers! Sweat good. Do good. Feel good.

Ride UP, Build Boise: A Karma Ride for Global Talent Idaho

We love our community, so we're giving back with our new program: Ride UP Build Boise. Every month we'll choose a new non-profit organization to support. How do we support them? With Karma Rides every Friday at 5:30 pm! The cost is $20, of which $10 will be donated to that month's non-profit. First up in February: Global Talent Idaho.

Global Talent Idaho is a workforce development program that helps skilled, professional refugees and immigrants navigate the U.S. job market and find roles related to their former careers, experience and education. Over 20% of these newcomers have a bachelor’s degree or higher and had well-established careers in their countries - doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, HR and IT professionals, accountants... They dream of returning to these careers, supporting their families and giving back the Idaho communities that have welcomed them.

Imagine trying to find a job to support your family in a new country and a new language having never written a U.S.-style resume or cover letter, filled out an online job application, or experienced an intense job interview. Global Talent Idaho helps job seekers overcome these obstacles with career counseling, online and 1:1 training, cultural orientation, and opportunities for mentoring, networking, internships and on-the-job trainings that furnish direct connections with local employers looking for skilled, experienced international talent.
